We would like to begin by acknowledging it is a privilege to be gathering as uninvited guests in “Canada.” This database is created on the unceded and ancestral lands of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səlil̓ilw̓ətaʔɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) peoples. It is important to recognize that “Canada” and “Vancouver” and most other place names on this land have been imposed by settler colonialists, and function to erase the long history of thriving Indigenous nations on this land before European contact. We benefit daily from this land being stolen from these nations and the ongoing system of settler colonialism that enacts violence in its various forms against Indigenous bodies. Black resistance and all movements fighting systems of oppression must work within a framework of decolonization in order to achieve genuine freedom and justice.

This database was created to provide a singular place that is easily identifiable and accessible to the people of "Vancouver", as well as the other resistance groups and individuals across Canada.
This database is in need of support and continuous updates on information. Social media has done a great job of disseminating information and reaching a wide audience, but those resources are often lost over time. We wanted to provide an archive of that information in order to make those resources accessible on a more permanent platform.
As the database increases its network, I will need more editors on board for updating content, as well as financial support to keep this domain and site hosted. I would love to connect with other resistance members in other cities especially those that are not a part of the Toronto/Vancouver/Montreal group.
